Using Forward-Thinking Reflection to Survive a Break Up.

The constructive phase of understanding breakup survival naturally follows the introspection portion of the process.

This step involves remembering your previous relationship.  Your intent during the reflection phase is simple: it is to look at your choices and how you managed any issue that may have been caused by your partnership with your ex.  As you have no doubt discovered, this process can be painful, but it is imperative that you plow through these breakup issues so you can take the next step .  Others may call this progression ‘learning about your mistakes’, while others may just label it ‘improvement’.

When you’re reaching back in your mind to reflect on your past memories, your grasp of your feelings will play a role.  You have to make it through the stage of introspection before you stroll through your memory with emotions that aren’t completely in check.  It can be very counter-productive to your emotional health to spend time on your past affairs before you are able to, but unfortunately a lot of people do this.

So, how do you get youruself through this? One comprehensive plan for doing so is described below, so that you can survive this despair that comes with reflection.

Value Your Memories.

You should first begin by literally and metaphorically arranging your memories.  Buy a big, pink box and use it to store all that which reminds you of your ex.  If you have old love letters poems, pictures of you two, or random knicknacks, then they’re great for the box.

I don’t agree with the commonly-held idea that you need to completely toss out everything that owned by your former partner.  You see, deep down inside you know that you felt very happy at times, and you shouldn’t get rid of these happy memories too.

If you still have affection for your ex, it will negatively impact you to disregard your happy recollections.  Even though you may want to get rid of thoughts about your ex, it’s just not that simple.

If you truly want to get past this ordeal, then keep your ex’s items in a box somewhere safe from harm or mishaps so that neither the environment nor you can get rid of them .  It is perfectly natural to sob and cry when going through the hurtful ordeal of storing away your ex’s belongings.  Getting closure is absolutely vital to enduring a breakup; saying goodbye to the memories you have by dealing with these mementos is a great way to get this closure.

There’s a more pragmatic reason why it’s good to keep your ex’s stuff in storage: he or she may want you to return it at some point.

Destroying his poesssions shows a lack of maturity, as well as not respecting other people’s property.  When you have calmed down, you’ll see what I’m talking about.  At the very least, you have to show your ex a modicum of respect, the kind you would want for yourself, no matter what the circumstances.  Maturity and thoughtfulness combined constitutes one of the most promising ways to really make it through and come out stronger.
